The band of seven (shichinintai) were a group of mercinaries who basicly were killers for hire. Although
they were human, they had the destructive capabilities of
demons, and they killed for the fun of it. However, they became too deadly for their own good, and Pretty
Much Everyone ganged up on them, using a trick to trap and kill them. They were beheaded and buried together, with a shrine
over them to appease their spirits. (Cuz no one wants vengeful ghosts)
However, Naraku destroyed this shrine and gave them
each a jewel shard to bring them back to life. The reason? To distract Naraku's army of enemies long enough
for him to recover while he was hiding withing the purifying barrier of Mt. Hakurei.

Bankotsu
Bankotsu is the leader, and also apparently the youngest. He had a black braid, and blue eyes. He's got a
purple cross on his forehead. He always carries the
Oohoko (Big Halberd) around, which makes him hard to miss. He's also the only one of the seven to actually meet Naraku.
Whenever
anyone finds a jewel shard they are supposed to give it to him. For some reason, he is the leader, and everyone else seems
to be afraid of him.
Attacks: The Oohoku, meaning big halberd. He calls it his aibou, meaning friend, though I guess the
official name is Banryuu. These names are kind of hard to sort
out, but I'll do my best.
A halberd is a weapon with a large blade on one end and a sickle on the other. The
design for banryuu is a bit exxagerated.
Banryuu is the specific name for his halberd. It is a demonic weapon, with the
strength of the 1000 humans and 1000 demons it has been used to kill. It has two
attacks, Banryuusen, (banryuu flash) which is similair to kaze no kizu, and Ryuuraisen, (dragon lightning flash) which
allows him to strike thousands of lightning bolts at random.
The sword also has two jewel shards put into it, which make
it even stronger, but they were put in simply to mend a crack.
Weaknesses: Uh... that is... er...
Renkotsu
Renkotsu is treacherous. He seeks to collect jewel shards for himself and stand up to Bankotsu. He took Jinkotsu's
shard, and stole Kagome's shards as well, but Bankotsu took them fom him. He even took Jakotsu's jewel shard before he was
dead. He wears a bandanna over his head, and had two purple stripes going up his cheeks and over his eyes. He does all the
work on Jinkotsu, building him up and such.
Attacks: He has wires that extend from his fingers, which he can set on fire.
He also has a jug of some stuff where he takes a sip and then spits it out to act as a sort of human flame thrower. It's pretty
cool. Then he has a variety of rocket launchers and explosives.
Weaknesses: If you're fireproof, you're probably set.
Suikotsu
Suikotsu was a doctor who was completely pure, however, he was also schitsophrenic, so he has two personalities:
The pure doctor who helps orphans and can't stand the sight of blood,and the ruthless killer who slaughters hundreds for the
hell of it. (This, I may add, is a slightly predictable side effect of trying to be completely wholesome. The soul is made
of ying and yang, and if you try to be only ying, the yang builds up until a dam bursts, and then you're screwed.) The doctor
is kinda cute, with black eyes and hair pulled back similair to Miroku's. However, when he is the killer, green lines appear
on his face, and his hair goes wild.
When near Mt. Hakuri, he finally shanged into a mix of hte two personalites, finally
getting peace, just in time to get stabbed with tokijen, and then shot in teh neck with a sacred arrow. (Though, for the record,
for a guy with an arrow in his neck he sure did talk a lot) He asked Kikyo to remove the jewel shard, but Jakotsu beat her
to it, taking the jewel shard to give to Bankotsu.
Attacks: He has four blades on gloves. These can cause a lot of damage.
Any fan of wolverine will know what I'm talking about.
Weaknesses: Attacks from far away leave him defenseless. Also he
tranforms back into the doctor making people reluctant to kill him.
Jakotsu
Jakotsu is a favorite among yaoi fans becasue he's gay. Gay or actually a woman, which wouldn't surprise me.
He sounds like a woman and he dresses like a woman, with one side of his.. whatever he wears.. pulled up to show his leg.
He has two blue spikes going down from his eyes, they kinda look like tears only not. He's got black hair pulled back.
The
most interesting thing about him is that he's attracted to Inuyasha, in a kind of scary way. He's about the fifth person to
claim 'killing rights.' Apparently he shows affection by killing. He promised to kill Inuyasha slowly, and take his
ears to remember him by. (Inu was human at the time) When Inuyasha regained hanyou status, he brought out the good old kaze
no kizu, and left Jakotsu dazed and dying, though he begged Inuyasha to kill him. (If anyone does it, I want it to be you)
Renkotsu
ended up taking his jewel shard and killing him in the process.
Attacks: His sword, creativly named Jakotsutou, or
the snake sword. This is becasue it is made of many blades, which whip around like a snake. It can be retracted into one sword,
which is large, but not so much as the banryuu or tetsusaiga.
Jinkotsu
Jinkotsu was a tank. He spoke very little, did very little, and was eventually killed by Koga. He was built
by Renkotsu. When he was killed, Renkotsu took his jewel
shard. He actually exploded causing serious damage to Koga and Renkotsu, who were nearby.
Attacks: He could run over
things or he could shoot missiles. And by missiles I mean bazooka-on-steriods A-bomb-is-cake missiles.
Kyoukotsu
He was a giant Oni that ate other Onis. He was also killed by Koga,adn his jewel shard was taken by a saimyoushou
to Bankotsu.
Mukotsu
Mukotsu mixed poison gases which could penetrate even Sango's gas mask. He stole Kagome and tried to marry
her, but that was stopped when Sesshoumaru came by and killed Mukotsu so he could talk to Kagome. Even Mukotsu's worst poisons
didn't faze Sasshoumaru, thouhg they put sango Miroku and Kagome in serious peril.
